Wreck This Journal – Week 4

by Victoria on June 28, 2009

Another entry in Jamie Ridler’s “The Next Chapter Book Club” wherein we are working through Wreck This Journal by Keri Smith.

The observant among you might notice that there is no Week 3 post.

I gave myself a week off. And really, I have kind of given myself a second week off.

Our household routine is in turmoil with hubby’s new job (which is in the evenings). Very little sleep being had by all.

When I get tired, I get cranky (now, there’s an understatement) and my creative energy completely disappears.

So Week 3 was a complete loss. Then, I thought I’d give this week another shot.

But the Journal had other plans.

I had decided to take it in the shower with me a few days ago, at which point I realized I had no idea where the book was.

Took me until yesterday to find it. I had cleverly “put it away” and then promptly forgot its new location.

I then brought the Journal with me to get my haircut, thinking I would ask the people there to wreck a page or two.

I freely admit to chickening out on that front.

But, I haven’t given up on this adventure. I need to make replenishing the priority right now.

Not quite sure what that will involve for me (besides sleep), but it certainly won’t involve forcing myself to wreck if I really don’t want to.

The book will be there when I’m ready to pick it up again.

I love losing it on the shelf or whatever safe place you set it. I tried mailing mine so I could get a little break. Well doncha know it came back to me the very next day. grrrrrrr. It is still taped up shut, so don’t feel bad. We each have our own pace. LOL

And yet that second post brings on the love! Love is so powerful, and creative people need that love energy- here in sweatland, we need water too, but love is a great start! So go from the heart!

First, *hug* to you. Because it sounds like you need it. The journal may have kept itself conveniently hidden so you wouldn’t feel forced to deal with it before you were ready. We will all be here whenever the time is right for you. Happy wrecking!

Are you taking another week off? If so, turn it so the spine faces the wall. Otherwise you might get tempted to throw it out the window or something. (wink wink nudge nudge)

You guys are all so sweet! Thanks for all the encouragement.

At Judi’s urging, I’m just going to tell that Journal, “You’re not the boss of me!” That’ll show it, right?
