Wreck This Journal – Week 2

by Victoria on June 11, 2009

I started this week thinking I would do at least one page a day.

(Can you guess what I’m about to say next?)

I did one page last Saturday.

And then I did two more tonight.

The rest of the week was a blur. Where did it go?

I did learn something this week, though. I need to find some better lighting when I take pictures of my pages.

What you see below was my best effort at correcting for the poor lighting. *sigh*

Up first, my page from last Saturday: Coffee!

img_0115_coffee_mod

Apparently I am a coffee fiend, because not-very-much coffee was used on that page, yet it was hard to “waste” it by pouring it out onto the page.

On the bright side, I didn’t feel compelled to let it drip off the page into my mouth. So I’m not that big of a fiend.

Next up: Bite me!

img_0113_chew_mod

Biting on paper kind of gives me the heebie jeebies. It’s got a certain grittiness that I don’t enjoy.

(Random memory triggered by this page – I went to elementary school with someone who loved eating paper. To each her own.)

Last one for this week: the Hand with the Day-Glo Aura!

I like working with oil pastels (like grown-up crayons!), but they are pretty messy – especially the red one. Don’t wear light colors when your playing with pastels. You’ve been warned.

General noticings about my pages

My Inner Critic has been fairly quiet for these pages.

But there was a whisper or three, mainly reminders about some tweets I’ve seen about over-the-top WTJ pages. Like with firecrackers.

But I guess the lesson this week for me (aside from needing better lighting) is about being okay with where *I* am. The fact that I signed up for this project was a big step in and of itself.

And then managing to post on my progress two weeks in a row? Huge. (I’ve got some consistency issues.)

So I’m just going to give myself a round of applause for making it this far.

Until next week, Happy Wrecking!

I totally love your bite page and how we can see the outline of your bite like the outline of your hand! Yay you for signing up, digging in, posting, playing and being an adventurer. I’m so glad you’re here!

Oh no, I snorted! The elementary school memory got me!! lol Yep, that and chewing long hair — blech!

I must say your coffee stains have a very arty feel to them.

O god, people tweet about others — I did not know — I guess it’s the human condition — sigh, not to worry though! Screw ‘em if they can’t take a joke!

Love ya

One thing for sure. This is challenging all our boundaries. Indeed to each her own! We are all going at our own pace individually but in the collective of this amazing experience! I was one of those paper eaters … :)

Oh my goodness! I just love the pages you’ve shared here! The coffee one is really lovely. And the chew-this-page one made me laugh. Love it!

I applaud your wreckage, and where *you* are. I love the marks your coffee made, my first instinct was to trace them.

Now I’m imagining tracing your coffee stains with messy red oil pastels.

Someone else’s journal seems easier to wreck somehow…:)

You are off to a great start! Your chewing page looks a lot like mine. Love the hand page!

I love your hand page. I was contemplating letting the puppy chew on the journal for a bit, but I’m definitely going to let him chew on that page when I get to it. So funny about the coffee page — I don’t want to “waste” my precious beverage either! I guess we just have to make sacrifices now and then!

I’ve been going through all of the Mr. Linky participants and I’m still fascinated that everyone does something different. I hadn’t seen bite marks like you did. Cool! Or coloring around your hand like that.

I bought the book not knowing there was a group doing this. I’m so glad that there are so many others doing this with me. Thanks for posting your progress!!

Really, isn’t that what this was all about? Just getting us to “show up”, make the effort, try something new? LOL at the image of you not drinking the dribbles off the end of the page *grin* Congrats on your efforts so far…and I love the glowing aura.
