How heavenly that I found you through Havi. I'm having some misgivings about my attendance at Art Basel Miami Beach this weekend, fearing that I am supporting a system that commodifies art so much that its meaning is stripped. I don't want to be a part of that if that's how it is. However, I'm being a bit idealistic. Yes, I really disliked the wealthy collectors who swoop in to purchase a blue chip artist as an investment or status symbol, a common transaction in the years leading up to 2008.

I think I should go to Miami, knowing that things may have changed as much as our economy has. That people will be talking about the beautiful aspects of art, those that have nothing to do with their financials.

Great post. Beliefs are just points of view in awareness. Beliefs, thoughts, emotions, fear, stuck patterns--all seem to be points of view which only have life when we give them attachment.

Thanks for the insight.

Yes, food for thought indeed. From a Virgo perfectionist, and someone who has never trusted her gut, even as I'm trying to teach people how to do that very thing, this is a bit of a struggle, and yet, I've seen it to be true.

Mostly.

There are a couple decisions before me which still hang in the balance between 'right' and 'wrong', mostly because of how others may be affected. But I think what I'm learning is that the fallacy is in seeing only 'this' choice and 'that' choice, and hey, wow, maybe there's this other possibility, or a multitude of them, which are right or even 'righter'. Yeah. Now, THAT feels good.

Victoria, thanks for this wonderfully clear, empowering description of the relationship between choices, beliefs, patterns and decision-making. Your voice is so kind and compassionate, I feel an immediate sense of ahhhh... when I read this. :-)

as a person who absolutely agonizes over decisions, i really appreciate this post, victoria. knowing that there isn't a right or wrong choice makes it a little easier to step forward.
